When Clearly holds a message before it's sent

If a message reads as hostile, Clearly doesn't post it as written and suggests other wording. You choose what to send.

Clearly checks each message before your co-parent sees it. If a message reads as hostile, Clearly doesn't post it as written. Your co-parent doesn't see it.

What you see

Not posted as written (or Not sent as written for a reply), with the reason and a suggestion.

  • Tap or click Use this wording to send the suggestion.
  • Choose Edit my message to change it yourself and try again.

Messages that were held aren't kept, and your co-parent never sees them. If you share the Messages paused for wording area with a professional, they see only a count over time, never the words.

Get wording help before you send

On iPhone, type your reply, tap Rewrite and choose Brief, Balanced or Warm. Set your usual style in Settings, then Reframing style.

The suggestions are based on what you wrote and the conversation so far. You always decide what's sent.
