When your access to a case ends

Access ends when a parent ends it, the end date passes, or you leave. You keep a read-only copy up to that moment.

Professional portal

How access ends

  • A parent ends it. For a mediator, parenting coordinator, guardian ad litem or custody evaluator, either parent can. For anyone else, only the parent who invited you can.
  • The end date passes, if the parent set one. Access ending shows on your Dashboard 14 days before.
  • You leave. Open the case menu and choose Leave case. Both parents are told.

What you keep

The case moves to Past. You keep a read-only copy of what you could see at that moment, and nothing after. You can still search it and build exhibits and spreadsheets from it. Your private notes stay with you.

Ask to share again

On a past case, Ask to share again lets the parents who shared it know you'd like access again. Nothing is shared unless a parent invites you again.

You're emailed when a parent ends your access or changes what you can see, unless you turn that off in Settings.
